Refractometer

Don’t stress your self out if you don’t have any clue with refractometers yet. Such a name might make them sound like a complex tool, but the reality is that they are surprisingly easy to work with. A refractometer gauges the angle at which light is bent — that is, refracted — as it passes through a liquid. This angle can tell us a lot about the substance we're examining.

Refractometers are designed to bend light while it is being directed into the device via a unique prism. The light then travels through the liquid being tested and the auto perimeter measures how much the light is deflected. This measurement is known as the refractive index, and it can provide us with a lot of information about the substance under test.

How Refractometers Work and Their Applications

Refractometers have an almost unlimited number of applications. Such devices are used, for example in the food industry as a way of measuring the sugar in fruits and other foods. In the medical profession, they lead the process of testing the urine of patients for health purposes. Refractometers are also utilized in science laboratories to measure chemical concentration in solution.

Refractometers come in a variety of forms and sizes, but they generally function in the same way. Some Hongdee refractometers are portable and hand-held, which makes it convenient to take them on the go. Others are larger and more sophisticated, ideal for use in the laboratory.
